You could say "Musik Is The Best" has been six years in the making, as it is Couch Records first label compilation. It showcases each of the labels artists including: dZihan & Kamien, Cay Taylan, De Vibroluxe, Richter, and Menu B. Couch Records has gained critical acclaim since its inception, and Musik Is The Best brings it all into focus in a mix of songs that mash together jazz, electronics, dub, near eastern rhythms, disco, funk and deep house elements.

Opening with dZihan & Kamien's "Mojamore", a song previously available only on the vinyl 12" entitled "Untitled". Rhodes piano, deep house groove, tabla rhythms and thumping bass kicks come together in all the right ways.

On track five, Richter breaks in with "Stay Tonight", blazing a strong, funky bassline, spacey synth grooves, and a touch of deep house goodness and a vocoded voice that culminates into a mid-tempo, future-disco style.

Track six and dZihan & Kamien deliver "Nagrileh", an incredible melancholy groove, deeply seductive in mix of doublebass and female vox with a latin edge and dub stylings.

De Vibroluxe's "Chicken Chop Suey", previously available on vinyl only, is a quirky, cut-up mash of Chinese female spoken word, deep bass, and drifting tablas... and it's indescribably addictive.

If I covered every great song on Musik Is The Best I'd have to pretty much talk about every one of them. If this is an example of what Couch Records is all about, you need to be all about Couch Records.
