Word Booty ep With his latest "Word Booty EP" Kidda's bustin' on the scene like the Koolaid man, straight through the wall to deliver a pitcher full of spiked and sugared party vibes, cut-up funk, and fresh hip hop derivatives.
Track Listing:
  1. All I Need
  2. Start To Wonder
  3. Hold Me
  4. Real Good Thing (Diesler remix)

Strong on cut-up, soulful vocals, afro-funky percussive rhythms, bugged out synths and playful moods, Word Booty tunes in with the smooth beats, solid kicks, horns and soulful vocal loops of "All I Need". If the Jackson Five formed today, they might sound like this.

"Start To Wonder" gives two-in-one props to artists who are (more than likely) influences on Mr. Kidda. It's assertive percussive rhythm nods to present day L.L. Cool J (throw on "Headsprung"), while it's funkadelic synths and cut-up soul vocal samples nod to Earth, Wind & Fire (or an earlier 60's influence).

With a melody and subtle-funk that shares a place with some of Moby's better work, "Hold Me" is Word Booty's most laid-back track. While it may rub shoulders with Moby's style, Hold Me digs deeper and delivers a bigger helping of song arrangement and general dopeness.

The Diesler remix of "Real Good Thing" sounds like a full-on disco-pimp looks: African percussion underscoring subtle breaks, simple synth pads, looped vocal cuts and deep house style vocal stabs. A super-luscious bassline, bell-hits and a couple well-timed drops round it all out... just one listen and you know you can't deny this song.

...refreshing.
