Mr. Anonymous 2 Bubbling up out of the primordial soup of Kingston and its famed Liguanea Club, a venue filmed in the James Bond classic, Dr. No, Mr. Anonymous is something curious. This is in fact a collective of musicians you've probably already heard of, like Sly & Robbie, Ranking Roger, Dave Wakeling of The English Beat organization, Ranking Jr. of Birmingham, England, as well as Kingston residents Mega Banton and Pinchers. This is the groups second album, and it's a deep dancehall and reggae excursion that rolls from laid back slow burners to full on dancehall floor killers.
Track Listing:
  1. Cool Vibe (feat. Mega Banton and Jeep)
  2. One Pretty Woman (feat. Ranking Jr.)
  3. Pinchers Version (feat. Pinchers)
  4. Be Honest (feat. Brando)
  5. Blaze Dub (feat. Mega Banton)
  6. Discotheque (feat. Afrobot and Jeep)
  7. Chi Widdley Bup (feat. Ranking Roger)
  8. Senegal To Jupiter (feat. Boubacar Diabate and Afrobot)
  9. Breeze And River (feat. Sly & Robbie and Ranking Roger)
  10. Rockin She Rock (feat. Dave Wakeling and Boubacar Diabate)
  11. Chi Widdley Bup ("4 on the Floor" Remix) (feat. Ranking Roger)

One interesting aspect of Mr. Anonymous' music is that all the lyrical performances were reportedly freestyle. There were no formally written lyrics or pre-rehearsed melodies and choruses. It was their goal to capture the kind of spontaneity that such a free-form recording process naturally created. It was a smart move. There is an element of pop-wise sensibility throughout the album, contributed by both music and vocals, that the jam session mentality goes a long way toward keeping under control. The freestyle aspects maintain a vital, raw sound that would otherwise be completely lost to over-production.

Mr. Anonymous is self-styled dancehall via Kingston, Jamaica by way of Boulder, Colorado that never compromises on its unique style. Playing a dangerous game of influence mix and match, Mr. Anonymous cross lines that aren't often crossed, but they never sell off their authenticity. Nicely done.
