"Where Edges Meet", by British composer James Murray, is a nearly-ambient, quietly moving work. Murray mixes organic and electronic sounds. He uses piano, violin, and assorted percussion, along with moog-like keyboard notes, subtle beats, symphonic keyboard washes, and slowly unfolding echo effects.

On "Fear of Falling", for example, he puts stately keyboards and electronics over a funky drum beat.
Nothing moves quickly here - the CD is over an hour long. Like a novelist, Murray takes time to let listeners become absorbed in the landscapes he is creating. The melodies and harmonies unfold like well written novels. Everything seems to be coming from faraway, not from this world, moving gracefully as from a pastoral fantasy or an underwater realm.
There is an air of mystery throughout. It's as if you will never discover where the edges meet, but Murray takes you on a beautiful journey as you try to find it.
