Compared to the far more house and cosmic oriented songs I've heard from Shahrokh Sound of K., a duo formed by Shahrokh Dini and Andreas Köhler, this new album called Dripping Point is not what I was expecting. The lead track, "Break it Down" features Jamie Lloyd on vocals and sounds a whole lot more like something Coldplay might turn out. Some of my favorites however are the ones that feature the voice of songbird Siri Svegler. It may be jazzy, soulful, and a bit funky, but don't worry, Shahrokh Sound of K. haven't abandoned their house-wise leanings.

Old Score
Beyond the two vocalists already mentioned, Shahrokh also work with Toyin Taylor and Robert Owens. As an album Dripping Point is really well rounded. Its downtempo, jazzy moments are balanced out by some really nice, laid back house cuts, and those are balanced out by some nice hip hop and soul influences. Toyin Taylor's very Barry White vocal performance on "Love Happens", which came out on their Owlflight EP in 2006, is completely addictive. Siri Svegler's work makes "Leave Your Hat On" one of my favorites here. Robert Owen's delivers exactly the kind of solid R&B/Soul performance you're used to.
Really nice album.
