While Compost's successful Black Label series of compilations caters to the higher end of dance floor tempos, their Freshly Composted series is honey for those who enjoy the mid and down tempo side of the same floor. Compost is known for treading on the techier, more minimally influenced side of house and dance music, but they also have a knack for uncovering some incredible jazz, hip hop, acid jazz and triphop influenced talent too. Freshly Composted Vol. 3 demonstrates some of the best aspects of the label and offers some choice remixes while it's at it.

UK duo Part Time Heroes do an incredible job remixing Marbert Rocel's "The Pack". Alif Tree (or is it now Aliftree?) gives a preview of his new album Clockwork with "Mai", which is just the kind of amazing French-vibe mid-tempo groove that legendary compilation series like Hotel Costes have built their reputation on. Sistars drop a beautifully soulful dance tune called "Inspirations (Innocent Sorceror's Remix)". Sepalot provides one of the few hip hop tracks with the album version of "Go Get It (feat. Ladi6)". Crazy P smooths out Eddy Meets Yannah's once broken beat inspired track "Solid Ground", turning it into the kind of laid back, refined house Crazy P have mastered. Karma's "Beach Towel", originally a lazy instrumental piece, that really gives lightly lapping tides at sunset a run for their relaxing money, is thrown in a tech house and cosmic disco blender by I:Cube. The list goes on and the quality of remixes never lets up. You'll find amazing mixes of Beanfield and Ben Mono that should not be overlooked. You may note that Ben Mono's track, "Jesus Was a B-Boy" appeared Freshly Composted Vol. 2, but here it is remixed amazingly well TJ Kong & Nuno Dos Santos.
As compilations go this one, which marks Compost's 300th release, is about as solid as they come.
