Remixes You know when Sonar Kollektiv and Best Seven founder Daniel Best come together, the result is guaranteed, slow-burning fire. When Frost & Wagner are thrown into that mix, just reach for the marshmallows and a comfy place to hold them over that fire, because you're going to be there a while. It's about a kind of cult of personality based on Germany's unique way of blending of Reggae, soul and dub sounds and I have to admit, I'm a bit of a devotee.

  11. Clara Hill "Everything (Frost & Wagner Remix)"

Can a country really do that? Yeah, of course. Music is nothing if not intensely regional. With that said however, the sounds you'll find here on Frost & Wagner's "Remixes", an album full remixes the duo have completed for other artists, the sound is uniquely incomparable to almost any other German producers. The quality is full-flavor.

The list of artists who the two remixed here includes Re:Jazz, Eva Be, Tosca, and Clara Hill to name some of them. The sound Frost & Wagner create is reggae, it's soul, and at the same time, it isn't reggae and it isn't soul. Imagine reggae in the hands of this duo as a piece of raw wood, sanded down and finely polished with soul (and other influences) until you have a fine, shiny piece of art that bares only the clear characteristics of a piece of wood whose surfaces were once porous, rough and ridged with its own grain. Of course in this collection they don't always begin with reggae. In fact they seem to seldom start there, but the resulting work of art always shows off their signature style.

Though some of these mixes are several years old, this collection is highly recommended. If you dig Fat Freddy's Drop, Eva Be, Thievery Corporation's reggae leanings, or any other soulfully smoothed out reggae vibes, you need this.
