Comments (1) ... Following last years dip into Indian waters on "Tantra Remixed", which came out last year on Water Music, The Warheads are back with a soundtrack for a film that does not seem to exist, except in your mind. This imaginary film is called "Nihon Noir". All that is on the bands website about it is a poster, which indicates that the film takes place in the Far East.
Track Listing:
Scene 1
Scene 2
Scene 3
Scene 4
Scene 5
Scene 6
Scene 7
Scene 8
Scene 9
Each of the nine tracks are named "Scene 1," "Scene 2," and so on, so there is not much indication of what the plot is and there does not seem to be a climax point, although a few of the tracks sound like something mysterious must be going on.
It is quite a pleasant CD on which melodic wooden flute plays a large part. Tablas, Oriental string instruments, and rhythm guitar funk also come into play along with various keyboard generated music. The only drawbacks are some dance beats that seem artificial when compared to the rest of the music, and are too upfront to be effective in a real (or imagined) soundtrack.
How good is it overall? I would go see the movie if and when it comes out just from listening to its score.

Nihon Noir
Mr Howell is correct in assuming that this new WARHEADS project is a soundtrack for a "imagined" movie. This is part of a string of new projects that have been released to the WARHEADS site only since the beginning of the year. The next one is due for release in September. The WARHEADS official CD will be scheduled for release in 09 . My thanks to Mr Howell for his review -jrs
