Comments (1) ... Have you ever listened to an Ursula 1000 DJ mix? or better yet, been in the presence of the real thing? If so, you've undoubtedly found yourself slinking in time with the beats of Lemon. Even if the exact song wasn't Lemon, the swanky groove was just an extension. Lemon is the artistic outlet of Freshly Squeezed label mastermind Nick Hollywood and if you've ever coveted (a name like Nick Hollywood or) the impossible style embodied by so many early 60s hipsters, had a mind meld with Austin Powers, or lusted after the ultra-demure kittenhood of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, Lemon's "With a Twist" is dare I say...your bag.
Track Listing:
Suzie Q
Me and the Blue
Batman (twist)
Planet Mambo
Hell, Yeah
Lets go! BIKINI
Studio None
Storm Warning
High Noon... at the Half Moon
Won't You Join Me for a Drink?
Lemon is powerfully tart when undiluted, so too much can leave you with a sour face and it's the cover songs like "Suzie Q" and "Batman (With a Twist)" or the blatantly surf-rock sampled "Let's Go! BIKINI" that are likely to bring your face into a scrunch unless you're really given over to kitsch of it all. The artwork doesn't mask any of it. But, when you dilute those tracks with a masterpiece like "Won't You Join Me For a Drink?" and the thoroughly enjoyable lounge grooves of "Me and the Blue", "Storm Warning" and "Planet Mambo", it's all just right. Yes friends, Lemon is the most important ingredient in the making of lemonade.
Grab your smoking jacket (or cocktail dress if you will) and a classic cocktail, and certainly don't forget the Lemon.
Funk Rock Lovin'
Such an eclectic groove presents a legit Batman soundtrack dubbed and chilled to the core and mystery reggae Clue soundtracks with dirty trumpets and sinister bass. Wow, whiz bang zam, i need some more Batman.
