Jazzanova's Alex Barck has called Dirk Rumpff an extended family member of Jazzanova, so it's natural to find Dirk participcating in the follow up to last Summer's debut of the ...Broad Casting compilation series. The relationship between Alex and Dirk started in the 90s of Marburg Germany where Dirk organized club nights. Sonar Kollektiv has always been to exploring different sounds and if you've been following them at all, you know that acoustic, folk influenced sounds and whipped cream fluffy, soul grooves have a special place in their heart.

Demonstrating the love and respect Dirk Rumpff has earned within the musical community, most of the songs in this compilation have been provided by the artists exclusively for their use here. While most compilations can only boast a handful of exclusive tracks, it really is a massive demonstration of honor for the man.
It all kicks off with a sublime folk-inspired lullaby from Bev Lee Harling called "Life Won't Wait", which is both contrasted and complemented by a soulful, fluffy house number by Slope and Clara Hill titled "Suddenly [Coffee Break]". After that the sound slides back to some acoustic vibes from Cottonwood and Deyampert. As you might be expecting, Trickski drops us back into the soul swerve with "Maingirl". After this the soul moods and percussive rhythms get heavier for a while until Outlines delivers a really nice hip-hop jam called "How it Should Be Done" and I can't argue with the title. Pretty much a rapper and beats with some sampled stabs for emphasis...the way it should be done. Ambient headz should get a taste of Dixon's beatless edit of the Jazzanova remix of Outlines’ "Listen to the Drums". It really brings on an Ame drumless "Rej" style. Don't pass up Clyde and Capitol A with "Gedaroom". This one's a tight, jazzy, urbanized house cut with really nice vocal raps.
With a heavy serving of folk and soul under healthy dollops of whipped house, garnished by hip-hop and jazz, this edition of …Broad Casting takes on experimentation and progressive song arrangements with a love that gives it an undeniable appeal. Well worth checking out.
