Slope is dope. If the title doesn't tell you everything you need to know about this one, try adding "...broken beat, soul, and house music with even a little sprinkle of hip hop". If you're already familiar with Slope or the style of Sonar Kollektiv, you know what you're going to hear...unconventional house music. If you're not already on it, what Slope Is Dope is all about are remixes and songs by (and of) Slope including work by Studio R, Fat Freddys Drop, Capitol A, and a handful more that circulates in a nu soul, broken beat, lightly housey air.

Find Our Love (Volker Meitz acoustic replay feat. Jane Hamilton)
Slope have been going at it for ten years now and their sound reflects the musical maturity they've gained along the way. The beats thump at all the right times, never too heavy, not too light, and always adding strength to the music around them. The music usually borrows heaviest from broken beat but is never more than an arms length away from new school soul.
Their version of Studio R's "Clapz" featuring the voice of Mocky is definitely the best version I've heard. You'll also want to catch what they've done with "Ray Ray" by Fat Freddy's Drop. Their own work presented here covers a wide range of sounds, from ambient soul to tech house with a little soulful warmth hiding in the layers.
