more pLUSH "more pLUSH" truly is. Carrying on the fine name established by its predecessor pLUSH, more pLUSH captures some truly fresh and sophisticated perspectives on the widely ranging downtempo genres. More influenced by jazz, funk and slow breaks than the soulful soul of pLUSH, the 15 tracks here take it up and down the tempo scale.
Track Listing:
  1. Bitter:Sweet "The Mating Game"
  2. Martin Böttcher "Die Halbstarken (Ohm-G's Evissa garage haven mix)"
  3. Sven Van Hees "Sophiesticated Lady"
  4. Ikon "Mogul Modal"
  5. The Lushlife Project "Budapest Eskimos"
  6. Metro Garage "Poppy Noodles"
  7. Martin Böttcher "Starlight Serenade (Gabor Deutsch mix)"
  8. Shine "In The Midlife Zone"
  9. Future Loop Foundation "Jazz Mood No. 1"
  10. Becker "6 aus 49"
  11. Max Sedgley "Slowly (radio edit)"
  12. SLACKWAX "Night Out"
  13. Ralph Myerz "L.I.P.S.T.I.C.K. (The Shakes' summernight remix)"
  14. Praful "Naked (12" boat crew remix)"
  15. Soulphonic Soundsystem "Catalina Sunset (Fort Knox Five rework)"

The theme set by the artwork is certainly carried into the music. Kicking off with the kitsch lounge sounds of Bitter:Sweet's "The Mating Game", we're sacheted into an ever deeper bed of 60s cinema strings with Martin Böttcher's "Die Halbstarken (Ohm-G's Evissa garage haven mix)". After Martin's ebbing ambience the sound is moved into smooth house territory by Sven Van Hees. Wah'd out disco-funk affected guitar (and the title, "Sophiesticated Lady") clearly betray Sven as a polyseter player. The guitar gets a bit overdone though, so in a rare moment for this collection, Sven gets the gong. Thankfully Ikon step in for a proper recovery with the breathy, soulfully feminine style of "Mogul Modul", and The Lushlife Project keep it solid when they drop the incredible "Budapest Eskimos". If you fell in love with Röyksopp's debut, don't pass this one by.

Don't step into Metro Garage's "Poppy Noodles" without your hair all puffed out and collar snapped right because this one reaches back for some classic jazz funk. We took notice of their self-released EP "One Day", but with "In The Midlife Zone", Shine reveal themselves as an amazing talent you're undoubtedly going to hear a lot more about. This track is marked "unreleased", so that means for right now you can only get it here. Future Loop Foundation drop a slice of nu jazz the way it's meant to be dropped; edgy, a little dirty, and with a jumping 4/4 beat. It's called "Jazz Mood No. 1", seek it out if you don't get it here.

Just when you think this collection is going to close out on a non-descript housey note, Soulphonic Soundsystem step in the room along with Fort Knox Five on rework and absolutely tear it up with the funky breaks and Latin funk of "Catalina Sunset". With this outro it's easy to forgive the few moments of transgression found on more pLUSH and just focus on the good vibes.
