Rude Girl - A Collection Of Music For Drunks

Rude Girl - A Collection Of Music For Drunks As a Collection of Music For Drunks, Rude Girl fits the bill. It's 14 tracks cover (well flaunt really) the rude bits, and the dirty, filthy, grimy, funky, don't-give-a-damn-what-you-think sound you'd expect to come from a New York City alley if it formed its own band and started recording. It's a little bit rock, a little punk, a bit funk, full of crass electronics, and not afraid to dabble in a wide range of beats.
Track Listing:
  1. DJ Fee "Southend Rock"
  2. Mains Ignition "Gibrone Culture"
  3. Souvenir "Heads Are Resistors"
  4. The Electric Moccasins Of Doom "The Neighbours"
  5. Guessmen "Animals In Suits"
  6. Tim Love Lee "Off-License Tear-Away"
  7. Skylab "The Viper"
  8. Bagel Boys "Super Toasting"
  9. Robots In Disguise "You Really Got Me"
  10. Crazy Girl "Cocaine Talk"
  11. Junkie Slip "Van Kleefs Klock"

Rude Girl takes some inspiration from the electroclash sound and mirrors the raunchy, post-modern, seen-it and done-it-all attitude that is the New York City stereotype. It's the kind of attitude Tummy Touch bottles up better than anyone else.

Check these cuts:

Mains Ignition "Gibrone Culture" - With an 80s feel to its vocals and synth work, this track is perfect for the kind of dark, edgy mood once reserved the more alternative, independent aspects of the new wave sound.

Souvenir "Heads Are Resistors" - A grimy instrumental number with floating, analog synths under crunchy electro beats in a breaky 4/4 style.

Bagel Boys "Super Toasting" - If Ursula 1000 really does you right with his musical selections, you need to get your hands on this cut, no question about it. Fruity beats and psychedelic synths groove alongside looped vocal samples, joined every so often by a vocal clip out of Lene Lovich's "Lucky Number".

Junkie Slip "Van Kleefs Klock" - Drops a little lounge style flavored by some funky organ and vibe work.

Tim "Love" Lee "Go Down Dixie" - Mr. Lee delivers a drifting ambient number here, complete with bells, slide guitar, and an almost Indian sitar-styled treatment on the bass.

Mescalito "Dark Corner Light" - Standing somewhere between the soft, acoustic side of Radiohead and the melancholy cool of Massive Attack, the natural breaks, spoken word vocals and slow tempo of this one really works well.

Mains Ignition "Mains To Go" - Melancholy breaks never sounded so right.

Rude Girl - A Collection of Music For Drunks... Buy it for the music, love it for the attitude.
