Nordic Lounge, billed as an "introduction to contemporary nordic music" is a combination of deep house sweetness, nu jazz cool and swanky, sophisticated lounge sounds. Coming from Dealers of Nordic Music, a label based in Stockholm, Sweden, you don't have to wonder if this is the real deal: This is Nordic lounge music. From Hird's now classic nu jazz joint "Keep You Hird", to Emka's sweet and housey "Eternal Harmony" or Xploding Plastix's jazzy "6-Hours Starlight", on to Ralph Myerz & The Jack Herren Band's retake on their classic "Nikita", this collection does not disappoint.

You may be familiar with Hird's "Keep You Hird" through his collaboration with Yukimi Nagano, who layered lyrics and vocals on the song Hird later titled "Keep You Kimi".

In a general sense the Nordic sound is fresh. Synth work is done in a crisp, minimally layered style that is both complex and uncomplicated. Sitting at the heart of the nu jazz movement, you can expect some heavy jazz influence and are gauranteed to hear innovative nu jazz joints.

Each track in this collection is selected with impeccable taste. If I did a "here are the standouts" list, it would include every track. If your bag is filled by loungy, housey, jazzy vibes supported by Latin percussion and crisp electronics, grab this disc and fill it.

Starting off the record is Swedish producer Hird with the unreleased track "Keep you Hird". After listening to this tune you will know for sure that Nordic electronic music has more to it then Röyksopp. After this introduction we let you float into the sounds off well-known artists such as Nu Spirit Helsinki, Butti 49, and Sunday Brunch as well as from new talents like Gothenburg based Plej and Swell Session.
