The debut (vinyl 12") single from Coup deBam is a sophisticated blend of near-Eastern and nu jazz style with subtle synth edges. Austria's close proximity with Turkey, and the fascination Couch Records has with finding the perfect East/West blend of musical cultures, is absolutely evident on this release, as the musical skill of this trio comes through in the incredibly smooth way they blend jazz horns and keys into their nu-Eastern sound.

In "Seirenes" the groove is held together by a subtle, jazzy bass line and keys, and punctuated by near-Eastern strings and percussion layered over a soft, slinky deep house feel. "Esta Dirreciòn" is much heavier on Turkish delight making it easy to absorb the sweeping horns and percussive breakdowns of its jazzy side without hardly noticing.

Both tracks are perfectly suited for those sultry, spicy moods and as a sampler of what's to come when they throw down the full-length... nice!
