Round Trip 2 Tokyo opens with soulful, jazz breaks and the soft soul voice of Mozez (Zero 7) with a song titled "Lovely Days". While some soul jazz songs can take elements too far, this one maintains a perect balance, stays soft and does it right. Mozez delivers his deeply heartfelt tones on three songs here, and each is a top shelf example of good, soulful jazz.

"Tibetan Night" caught my attention with a combination of minimal ambience, distant sitars, soft bell pads and far Eastern chord progressions with the voice of Kaori Kaneko singing in a combination of English and (...sadly I cannot identify the other language...). Just when you think it's over too soon, the song drops some soft breaks making its mood just right in so many ways. "Serenity" also features Kaori Kaneko speaking softly in Japanese, with a feminine ambience similar to "Tibetan Night".

"IndianXploitation" is a nice Indian-breaks instrumental, While "MIST", a sitar led piece with drum and bass breaks serves as a great follow-up. And while you're at it, do not sleep on the DJ Cam-esque, deep, funk organs and dirty breaks of "E.T" that close out Round Trip 2 Tokyo.

Even though the style of this album shifts from song-to-song, Soul G. & Tony Match keep a consistent personality behind the whole thing and hold down the variety like there's nothing to it.
