"BBQ Beets 2 Return of the Yams" features a host of talented artists from The Agriculture's growing roster and serves as an excellent introduction to a label with a very defined personality. Mellow breaks, dubby vibes, deep electronics, abstracted jazz and "World" influences, with the strongest being Middle Eastern are the rule for the 19 beets this collection serves up.

At times, as with Sub Dub, I'm taken back to the mid-nineties breaks sound prevalent in labels like Shadow Records, while others drop a little more dub, noise and ambience than beats, but every track is something special and unexpected. The nod factor is high and slow. If you need a downbeat vibe that's wholly spliff but spicier than smooth, BBQ Beets 2 is the full-flavored dish you need.
