As warm and organic as it is aloof and mechanical, The Push Pull is the soundtrack for a mind whose thoughts and observations are rendered in abstract, dubby vibes, Eastern percussive rhythms, and mellow glitches.

It's clear that David Last enjoyed building a deep and moody world full of complex percussive rhythms, extremely cut-up vocals, deep, dubby bass and unexpected melodies. Skillfully mixing cultural sounds from Eastern to Western, with styles from glitchy ambience to melodic, electronic dub, you could almost call this Future Dub. While a number of the songs really caught my attention, namely "Secret Society", "Springset", "Cat-Silver", "Posca Kid", "Makeout Stakeout" and "Chiki", you're not going to hear any rote dancefloor fillers or catchy choruses, because The Push Pull is all about unconventional structures and experimental compositions. Enjoyed best at sunset with a cold drink and a spicy samosa.
